How to speak their language

I understand, SAME, or that tracks?

It’s hard to reach your customer if you don’t sound like them. I mean this with every fibre of my soul.

If I wanted to speak to Gen Z I would use their language within every fibre of my brand, including imagery, things they care about like sustainability, fitness, body positivity, not taking life too seriously (amen)

IIf I wanted to speak to Boomers and Gen X exclusively, I would talk about how hard life is, and what how you have to consistently ‘work hard’ to ‘get results’. Add in some chat about politics and you’re in.

Millennials however, encompass fragments of the above with a touch of nostalgia for simpler times, we hate being on our phones so much, but our nervous systems were never rewarded for resting, and so we’re trying every hack and changing our lives in a bid to undo the damage capitalism caused. All whilst having babies, building businesses and trying to accept we’re nowhere near as cool as Gen Z now are.

I know all of this because I have been studying human behaviour since I started my other business 9 years ago. It made sense to pick up hints, add in a bit of miellnail hyper vigilance and you’re good to go, or would Gen Z say cooked? I am not sure.

But I also speak to my customers, often. They tell me, in their words, confidently. And that’s because I get it. I often say SAME because I’m a Millennial and that’s how we speak.

Know what I mean?

If you’re struggling with this you don’t need someone older/ younger if you’re targeting a demographic you aren’t familiar with.

It requires a certain ear, patience and insight.

A craft I have honed for years. If you’re ready to take your time and really listen, let’s get those dividends. Work with me here.
